auto racing is a sport’s season racing review

So, I need to move down that post I have about Bristol. It is kind of dickish.

Anyways, I’ve been busy with college (first time out of my basement in years!), but that doesn’t mean I don’t update this thing.

Ok, I don’t.

Let’s see what happened while I was away.

NASCAR

Tim Richmond won the championship!

Just kidding, he didn’t, we have the most boring repeat champion ever in Jimmie Johnson. He keeps too much of a low profile.

More interesting stuff happened with Jacques Villeneuve making his debut, Sam Hornish DNQing but being given a ride to NASCAR anyways (I wanted Andretti-Green to switch over to NASCAR to race a 77 car!) as well as Dario crashing his way through the Busch errr.. Nationwide series. Also, the end of the current cars are gone. The still ugly COT will be the new replacement.

F1

Kimi Raikkonen won the F1 championship, beating out a potent Lewis Hamilton, the world’s new favorite son. Seriously, he is the man. Lewis Hamilton won the championship in popularity.

Champ Car

Sebastien Bourdais won the championship, and there probably will still be 18-19 cars next season, but at least they have a schedule and some good drivers! And Justin Wilson is likely moving to Forsythe. Wonder who will have the Newman-Haas-Lanigan-Everyone Else and Their Mothers (NHLEETM) seat?

Indy Racing League

Dario Franchitti wins the championship by like .02 seconds, or something like that because of an aero package that still imitates NASCAR on the superspeedways, and flies like lawn darts.

They could promote how dangerous they are.

WRC

Ok, their championship is still going on, with a close battle between Sebastien Loeb and Marcus Gronholm, who are only seperated by six points coming into the Wales Rally Great Britain. I’m rooting for Gronholm. What other race car driver invests smartly on farmland instead of buying bitches and hos? Plus the Focus looks better. That Citroen looks ok though.

ALMS

A lot of champions, but yeah. The big news is how it is going up in popularity and how popular it is to the IRL teams that want to race sport cars and possibly have an exit strategy if the IRL does go under. The Audis are still dominant though. And so are the Penskes and the successful Corvettes and the Ferraris.

NHRA

So while I was away, Blue Collar hero John Force broke his legs (hope he gets well soon), and Tony Schumacher won Top Fuel Dragster. Tony Pedregon won Funny Car, Jeg Coughlin won Pro Stock, and Matt Smith won Pro Stock Bike.
