Well, as everyone knows by now (I’m breaking the story pretty late here), Helio Castroneves broke up with his fiancee for his 19-year old Dancing With the Stars partner.
Rhetorical question of the day: does he cheat on his fiance as bad as he cheats on the track with Penske?

rating the changes in nascar next year

*Talks to self*
There’s a new car that looks like crap in NASCAR. Deal with it. Even though the cars look like crap and seem to only race well in short tracks, well, At least the drivers are still cool.
At least the drivers are still cool.
Let’s rate the major driver changes and new drivers in NASCAR so far for 2008.
Dale Jr. and the #88 Hendrick team
Rick Hendrick is the New York Yankees of NASCAR, but I think Dale Junior works. I actually do not have a problem with it anymore, and I love the simple paint scheme. It’s a grab bag how he will do in Hendrick Equipment, he could be average and underwhelming (as they will have to build more quality cars for Johnson, Gordon, AND Junior now) or he could be really really good.
I give the move an A with a minus sign.

auto racing is a sport’s season racing review
November 26, 2007 · Leave a Comment
So, I need to move down that post I have about Bristol. It is kind of dickish.
Anyways, I’ve been busy with college (first time out of my basement in years!), but that doesn’t mean I don’t update this thing.
Ok, I don’t.
Let’s see what happened while I was away.
NASCAR
Tim Richmond won the championship!
Just kidding, he didn’t, we have the most boring repeat champion ever in Jimmie Johnson. He keeps too much of a low profile.

nascar manages to make bristol boring
August 26, 2007 · Leave a Comment
well this is day ten i think of my computer being totally gone, but oh well. i watched the bristol race since they had expanded the grooving of the track, etc. wow, they have made the “racing” there suck, i would rather see one-lined racing with bumping and banging instead of this high-line low-line stuff that is a staple of every other race. nice job nascar.. let’s put more money into Hendrick’s wallet.
that busch race was good though, maybe it was because of the package they run.

Kernel failure… oh god, it sucks. It’ll be fixed in a bit. At least mother nature is on my side meaning not much racing has been going on.
Thanks for delaying the race for me!

kevin harvick is still acting like total dick
August 18, 2007 · Leave a Comment
Kevin Harvick likes his grapes sour. This is him trying his Dale Earnhardt imitation except Earnhardt was much cooler (from jayski: )
Harvick vs. Montoya….still brewing: #42-Juan Pablo Montoya and #29-Kevin Harvick were asked to pay a courtesy visit into the NASCAR hauler Friday, to make sure there were no lingering effects between them following last Sunday’s contretemps at Watkins Glen. NASCAR’s interest may have been piqued by comments made by the two. “He drives like he doesn’t know what he’s doing, to be honest with you,” Harvick opined about JPM. “He goes out, he can run fast but he’s all over the place and every week it seems like he runs into a different person.”
“You know, I think he’s a great guy, he’s a great racer and it’s a shame the position he’s in,” Montoya said of Harvick. “I think we’re mature enough and big enough being in the sport, I haven’t been in this sport long enough but I’ve been racing all my life and I learned to get over things like this because we’re going to meet again and again and again in the race track and it’s a lot nicer and better when you have a good relationship.”
Shows how much more class Montoya has.. Harvick should have punched Montoya or something. Then again, Harvick doesn’t cheat on his wife and is one of the better representatives in the sport when he isn’t wrecking people so that has to count for something.

weekend… i mean nascar race preview – for aug. 17-19
August 17, 2007 · Leave a Comment
NASCAR
Busch at Michigan: Saturday at 3:30 ESPN2
Nextel Cup: Sunday at 2:00 ESPN
Since NASCAR and NHRA is the only series action this weekend, let’s roll. Michigan is basically a 2.5 mile track where anyone can race really. It was the original cookie-cutter that made NASCAR become a sleep aid (I mean the fans would rather have more short tracks, unique speedways like Pocono, and road courses than this generic 2.5-mile cookie cutters).
Preview: anyone can win these races really, I mean anyone can race this track pretty well. I think it’ll be a Ford driver like Kenseth, Edwards, or McMurray.
Also on this weekend
NHRA at Reading, PA – 10PM Sunday at ESPN2
MotoGP Czech GP – 6PM Sunday on SPEED

quick news from around the racing world like kyle signing to JGR, etc
August 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment
Kyle Busch signs with Joe Gibbs
Looks like JJ Yeley will get the shaft here as JGR is not currently looking at expanding to four teams (maybe it’s because of the pending switch to Toyota here). Kyle Busch will race the 18 and probably will be as much of an outspoken dick as Tony Stewart except Tony’s actually fun to listen to.
Maybe he can make Kyle a fun personality. Kyle Busch should listen and learn from this video of what Tony did to Jeff Gordon in 2000.. that was funny.
More Graham Rahal, all the time

Graham Rahal is getting more coverage these days as a rising star. Being from Ohio, I’d love to see him in F1 someday. He’s very consistent, even with Bourdais as a teammate. Maybe we could see him pair up with Marco Andretti at Newman-Haas Lanigan because Marco’s career is going nowhere but upside-down in the corrupt IRL (although it feels more likely that Justin Wilson may be his new teammate in 2008).
More corn for (less) people

Looks like the IRL will get a milti-year deal for the Iowa Speedway… meaning when Honda leaves the IRL for NASCAR in 2009.. (everyone knows it will happen) this contract means nothing.
